Returning

Back from California, earthquakes, wildfires, and more.  I don't know why anyone ever wants to go home.  There is nothing but trouble there.  Today, I return to work.  I have bills to pay.  Home is a horror show, I think, compared to the freedom of the road.  Money, however. . . .

I learned to make collodion images.  Here is my first tintype.  It is of the fellow who taught me.  I'll link him later.

But I have no time now.  I must prepare for the daily beating.

  1. Good to see you back. I have missed you. We always have to work for somebody else instead of doing what we really want to do.
Like collodion images. That's very interresting! Lately I have seen some nice collodion work by Jody Ake. I don't think there is anyone teaching that technique here in Sweden.

By the way I like the bullet hole in the guy's pants. Seems to have been a rough time in California.

  2. Thanks, Jan.

I have seen Ake's work and like it. There are several others, and I am certain my own will be derivative for a while.

The boy lives in Oakland which IS a rough place. I wanted to photograph the neighbors, but he didn't want anything to do with that.

Now I have to think of something to say for today's entry.
