Meetings and Taxes
A brief break from the Key West stories. Taxes tonight, a very early meeting tomorrow. There will be no time to write. The weather here turns cold again, the second time this autumn. Crisp reminders of other times.
I can't decide which version of this photo I want to use yet. You can be the judge. I'm not all that crazy about it, but I have not taken photographs for a long time now and am running out of pictures to post.

For what it is worth. I like the first version with the halo.
ReplyDeleteThe sacred and the profane -- it is a combination of the attractiveness of the model, the exotic theme of old postcards that you have been exploring, and the out of the way sacred icons one finds in small churches in the Southwest and Central America.
Death and . . .
besides taxes
Beauty in the Sacred and the Profane
Keep writing and making pictures
For some reason I like the one without the halo!
ReplyDeleteGo figure.
Without the halo. The image evokes enough w/o having to be so blatant. Subtle is good. And it allows more room for the viewer to think creatively.
ReplyDeleteI love the image btw. The model is wonderful
With the halo, the photo has the quality of a renaissance religious painting, the kind often found in a triptych, and with the understated sensuality of the model forms an interesting contrast. I like it with the halo.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking and looking.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Our Lady of Guadalupe. I wonder what a halo of that width all the way around her might do. I suppose on certain occasion I'm prone to excess. I like all the Eastern Orthodox icons.
I'm a harsh critic but always remember it is because I care passionately about art (that was a pre-amble).
I'm not sure I'm sold on the way her neck is bent or something. BUT that could be because it is not a full body shot and therefore the angle feels just slightly off or squashed to me. I'd love to see her full length...barefeet and some leg. Of course I know absolutely shit about photography so take it with a tiny grain. I just react.
It is definitely reaching though and definitely a cool direction...more please.
Just for fun:

I have another full length photo of her with halo elsewhere on my blog. When I went to look for it, it wasn't there. A lot of my photos are not displayed. Even my icon is gone. I don't know if I've been hacked or there is a problem with Google. I am disturbed.
