(All Photos by Rhonda Prince)
Rhonda K. Prince has published a book of photographs entitled "
Sitting on the Edge" that is sheer madness. The entire book is made up of pictures of sitting places. Empty, spare, and--here is the mad part--devoid of people. In truth, there is a human presence--a man shot from behind in one picture, a reflection and a shadow in two others. It all turns out fascinating. The world looks sparse, strange, spare, frayed. It is an intriguing and even inviting world that harkens another time.
I like empty spaces, so when I first saw Rhonda's images, I was immediately drawn to them. They are both romantic and gritty at once, full of beauty and roughness. The book is a project that relinquishes the world to a single thing--a place to sit, as she says, on the edge of things. We are at rest. We languish. We wonder. We hope.

Thank you CS! I'm surprised and flattered by your words! I never expect people to see my photographs that way but it is definitely a pleasure!
