Fall Back

The time fascists have decided what the clock will say and when, and once again, I miscalculated what would happen when I got up this morning.  I thought I'd be pleased because the sun would be coming up earlier, but I woke up at the six and it was only five.  I don't get it.  Now I'm getting up earlier. How do we take the time back?  I am ever so sleepy.

I thought to go out last night.  I thought maybe for only an hour.  But when the time came, I didn't want to leave my comfortable clothes, so I stayed in and watched the last two episodes of "Mad Men."  And then it was time for bed.  I think I will open a bar where people come in their pajamas.  "The Pajama Bar," I'll call it.  Tremendous possibilities.  Can you imagine?  The staff would wear black silk pajamas with red piping and big wooden toggle buttons.  Comfortably elegant.  The bar would be filled with overstuffed chairs and couches just like the lounge at the Algonquin Hotel.

Because the world needs something.  People were happier when there were still mysteries, still unexplored places and "strange" cultures and the possibility that "monsters" might still exist.  Surrounded by the promise of escape, the "civilized" world could be more comforting.  We are trapped now with nothing but distractions.

C.C. came to the studio the other day and made this portrait of "the artist at work."  I like to be comfortable when I'm shooting.  The kimono is like pajamas in many ways.  The girls would like to work in the bar.  We'll be providing a service, I told them.  They were very agreeable.  The picture makes me look short, though.  I think that's because he was standing on the bench.

You look a lot better than I imagined after reading your sighs about your looks here and there!
