Botero II

Seems I've struck some nerve with the images of the pregnant woman in the mask.  They do remind me of Botero paintings.  Boteroism.

Fernando Botero Angulo (born April 19, 1932) is a Colombian figurative artist. His works feature a figurative style, called by some "Boterismo", which gives them an unmistakable identity. Botero depicts women, men, daily life, historical events and characters, milestones of art, still-life, animals and the natural world in general, with exaggerated and disproportionate volumetry, accompanied by fine details of scathing criticism, irony, humor, and ingenuity (Wikipedia).

Some of that might be applied to these.  Irony, humor, and ingenuity, I think.

There have been a string of the most beautiful days on earth here this week.  People are wearing sweaters in the deep south in late April.  That is wrong.  The nut jobs want to use it as evidence that the Global Warming scare is fiction.  I try to explain that it is like leaving the door to the freezer open in the kitchen.  The kitchen gets cooler for a brief second before everything warms up.  This brief cooling will raise the temperatures of the poles, I tell them.  Why?  Why do I tell them?  They don't hear it.  They don't want to.

So I will enjoy these days, these Last Days, in an orgy of fun.

I wish that were true.  I wish I were capable of that.  Of "an orgy of fun," I mean.  Last night's orgy consisted of leaving work late, going to the gym, shopping at Whole Foods, coming home to shower and to cook, and eating in front of the television re-watching Sunday's episode of "Mad Men."  I wanted to watch Roger Sterling taking acid once more.  The episode was wonderfully done.  Roger enjoys the trip and is transformed by it.  At least that's what the previews to next week's episode say.  I want to see how.  The last line of the episode is delivered by Roger the next day at work.  It has become something of a mantra for me now.

"I have an announcement to make.  It is going to be a beautiful day."

Indeed.

  3. You know what, I heard that many men do love a not too skinny woman.
But they just don't dare to admit it.
A little bit of flesh becomes taboo, just like smoking cigarets.
