Botero

I am bumping what I wrote to post today.  This instead.  It was just too compelling.

I shot with the pregnant woman yesterday.  She's due in a couple weeks.  I came home and processed one digital image.  This one.  I sent it to her immediately, and she is in favor of it.  It was a difficult shoot.  Nerve-wracking.  She would get overly heated, then dizzy.  She would need to sit in front of the fan.  "My god, my god," I would think in fear hoping nothing would happen.  "He wants to come out," she said.  "We're trying to keep him in for the next couple of weeks."  "Yes, yes, keep him in," I pleaded.  I was a wreck.  My shooting process is soooooo slow, but I was trying to speed it up in order to get the sequence of images I wanted.  We started the shoot with her in a black robe and mask.  She looked too much like a pregnant vampire, so I got her to change.

We made it through the shoot without incident.  This will be the second child for her and her husband who is a high school English teacher.  The second boy.  "Like 'Leave It to Beaver,'" I said.  I don't think she knew the reference.  She is young, twenty, twenty-one.  She will come back with the new boy, she said.  We will shoot again.

  1. Really cool!
She looks like she is looking for a nest urgently.
I wouldn't be surprised if the child came by now.
    :-))
Sure hope to see more of the series.

  3. N, Sure you will. Thanks.

R, It is such an odd photo, I think. And it does remind me of a Botero painting.
