It's Only Normal

I dreamed last night that I didn't post today.  Dreaming.  I am tired all the time.  Opportunism International has made the working days longer for the summer.  It is maddening.  I dreamed of sleeping with one of my co-workers, too.  I didn't even know I was attracted to her.  Now. . . I think I am.  We work in different plants, so I may not see her for months at a time.  Better.

The air grows hot, the sun strong.  We are at least a month ahead of the weather schedule.  We are living in the Post-Normal Age.  Postnormalism.  I will work on the idea.  There truly is no "normal" left.  A man (in Georgia, I believe) made the news by putting up a sign in front of his business that said "I DON'T SUPPORT THE NIGGER IN THE WHITE HOUSE."  That man, I think, would like to see a return to normalcy.  I didn't fare well when things were normal.  I don't fare well now, either.  It is hard for people to embrace difference, I guess, no matter what they say.

Sitting outside with the miscreants after drinking a margarita and watching the Kentucky Derby, the group of us watched another group of people walking to the Mexican restaurant.  I raised my hand and smiled.  One of the miscreants asked if I knew them.  Nope, I said, but they were just walking by a group of men.  Ever walk by a group of men?  It isn't very comforting.  I was just trying to make them comfortable.  Why do they go there, another miscreant asked with disgust?  See how they look, I queried?  The miscreants looked at me.  The miscreants looked pretty much alike.  They go there because that's how the other people look who go there, I said.  People go where other people look like them.  That's all.

I guess it's only normal.

  3. OOps. I just googled it again. You have slipped from second place. It's all my fault, too. I am now at number one--probably because I used it as a title word!
