From the Hip
San Francisco is an f'ing miracle compared to the environs most of us live. But especially me. If for nothing else, I am in love with the photographs I am able to take. Give me a year. Six months, even, to live in this town and make pictures and write stories. I've only wanted that for how many years? Of course sometimes it is better if we don't get what we want, if we can only get what we have. But I haven't any time to wait any more. It is now or never.
I don't think anyone will give me what I want/need.
I love these photos taken from the hip. I've learned to frame well without ever looking, even with the 50mm lens. I am beginning to be able to do it with the 85mm, but that is something else. These, though. . . just give me a room and the time. Oy and oh, my!
In the morning, perhaps, I will tell you more about today. But for now I must get ready for bed. I am tired and there is the long drive to Yosemite in the morning. Perhaps I will try this shooting from the hip there as well. However it shakes out, though, you will be the first to know.
