Holiday Head
Jesus did I oversleep today? But wait--I don't have to go to work. Is that still considered "oversleeping"? I am happy enough to do it though I feel out of synch now. The day may go weird. It already feels as though it has.
Obviously, it is the 4th of July, Independence Day, and there will be the usual celebrations. I suggest you watch the first scene of "The Razor's Edge" to get the day started correctly. The newer one that starred Bill Murray. It was his first non-comedic role, and it was the first time I liked anything he did. I haven't watched the movie in a decade, but I remember it as being an intriguing movie. I just watched the trailer for it on YouTube, though, and it felt very '80s. You know what that means. So I am not going to vouch for it with body and soul. I will, however, see if it is available on Netflix.
O.K. I just checked and it is, so I will definitely watch it today. It seemed rather life-informing when I watched it the first time in 1984. Maybe I'll see today where I went wrong.
Perhaps I should go out today with my camera and do some "run and gun" photography. Perhaps I can capture what it means to be an American in 2012. But it doesn't interest me as much as going to the gym, working out, lying by the pool, then barbecuing with my mother and drinking some sort of crazy mixed drink like a Margarita. Yes, that has much more appeal.
I wouldn't feel that way were I in Brooklyn today, though. I would want to be taking pictures at the beach on Coney Island. I envy everyone who is doing that today.
As predicted, my head is an empty hollow this late morning. There is a half drunk beer sitting on the living room floor and it seems to want finishing. That will tell you all you need to know about me today. It is a holiday. I think I'll take advantage. Hope you do, too.

Happy 4th! --lighting sparkler in tribute:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holiday! I think you should stick with the 'run and gun' idea. I enjoy that side of your photography too. Sitting on my porch eating crumpets and reading a book on my kindle. (the kindle was a gift, I swore I would never have one)
ReplyDeleteA, I hope yours was a good one.
ReplyDeleteR, Don't apologize. Kindles are wonderful. The bookstore is now immense and open 24/7.
