Bad Narrative

I wrote a narrative last night that I thought really sang.  After reading it this morning, though, I've decided I'm a moron. The story is stiff and mechanical, a bad attempt at best, or perhaps a simple confession of little talent.  It won't be posted this morning.

Rather, let's look at the map.  This one comes without a legend from CNN this morning.  It is a presidential election map, red being states going to Romney, blue beings states that are going to Obama.  Yellows, I'd guess, are too close to call while all the shades of colors are suggestions of small margins.  Again, they provided no legend.  All I want to say is this: South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas. . . .  If you haven't been there, take a drive.  Stop in the little towns and talk to people.  Feel the pulse.  There is a lot of pride there.  If you can, make references to history and philosophy and science.  I've done it.  It is fun.  Just be careful.  As the old joke goes, "Do you think I'll need a gun?"  "Probably not, but if you do, you're going to need it bad."

  3. You kidding? Yosemite is a death trap. People are spilling over waterfalls and dying from insect bites. I'm lucky to have gotten out alive!
