Apparently I Missed It

Apparently, I missed Halloween.  I didn't know it was early.  There were kids trick or treating all over the Boulevard yesterday and there were costume parties all night.  I had to go to a fundraiser for the arts in a redneck county--cheap wine, beer, barbecue, etc.  There was a cruise ship band playing all the music you know.  Later a theater group got up and performed some hideous scene, then a woman sang to a karaoke machine.  One of the fellows at my table left saying he couldn't take it any more.  My boss and I, however, were aghast.  Where else could you see this sort of thing--a fund raiser for the arts at a Harley-Davidson dealer, no less.  Oh, the art was hideous, but the night was beautiful, and apparently there is a video of me moon walking to "Billie Jean Is Not My Love."  Later, I went to one of those wing houses and had spicy wings and a margarita and then shots of tequila to kill everything.  I made it out of the parking lot without playing bumper cars with anyone and then made it out of the county and onto the interstate without getting pulled over.  Once I was on the highway, it was all gravy.  In some strange way, the night was grand.

But now I must run.  Friends and food are calling.  There is much going on today, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.  The holidays are here.  Let's have fun.
