It certainly wasn't your foreman or your elementary school teacher. They knew the drill.
"Can I stay home today?"
"Get our ass up and go to school."
Bob Dylan: Twenty years of schooling and they put you on the day shift.
John Lennon--well, just read the lyrics to "Working Class Hero."
Dr. Nutt says there is hope in conquering depression through the use of hallucinogens(link). Can help you stop smoking and drinking, too. Further studies, etc.
Surely. I've observed it's effects on people I know. Changed them, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the ill. Well, it is difficult to say "for the good." Who knows. Made them more thoughtful, perhaps. So does Mindful Meditation, the current fad. Can help you improve everything, they say. Can improve your sex life. Huh. Just think about that.
"Hey, doc, can I have a little more of that shit you gave me."
"Hey now, we've got to be careful, you know. It is only for therapy."
"No shit, doc, I'm feeling in bad need of some therapy right now."
"Well, have you tried meditating?"
"Fuck you, man. Just give me another dose, you know what I'm saying?"
My head is muy malo this morning. I will need to "take care" today, whatever that means. I would like to be a reviewer of things, would like to have a column, to get paid to go about interviewing people and taking pictures and writing up the stories. That is what I desire. But that is not what I will do. I will pack up in a bit and go to the factory. There is madness in it, one way or another.
Maybe a little hit of psilocybin would be just the thing.
