Crumb

Jesus Christ!  Robert Crumb.  I watched this last night on YouTube (link).  If you don't know Crumb or his work, you must first watch this (link).  I haven't watched it for many, many years, but I remember it.  Crumb the Weirdo.  But this thing I watched last night--YES! in thunder.  He explains what it is to REVEAL and the compulsion to do so.

You may not know Crumb unless you are old enough or weird enough.  I know him from his "Weed will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no weed" poster.  And "Fritz the Cat."

Some of you won't be interested, I know.  I mean. . . he's a cartoonist for god's sake.  But it is what he wanted to do.  He gets a lot of criticism now for his cartoons about sex and his exaggerated images of the female body.  Of course he does.

And to tell you the truth, I have never bought a cartoon, underground or otherwise, since I was ten years old.  I hadn't thought about Crumb for years and years, but last night I stumbled across that interview and went, "Oh, yea. . . Crumb."

A real weirdo, as they say, but there is something hideously compelling about him, too.
